Moist, delicious meatballs in a red sauce….our kids LOVE this sauce!
20-30 meatballs depending on size
Ingredients:
2 lbs Ground pork, veal & beef mixture
2 Cups of extra creamy ricotta cheese
2 eggs
1 loaf white wonder bread
1 cup of parmesan
⅔ cup of fresh basil
Garlic powder
Fresh garlic
Salt & pepper
Onion powder
Milk
Instructions:
Break up bread into pieces, pour in milk until it’s nice and soggy with no milk left over at the bottom of the bowl. Now mix all ingredients above until well mix. Form the meatballs and place them into the oven at 400 degrees - cook for about 30mins.
Sauce:
Ingredients
5 large cans of pureed tomatoes - I like the Italian brand Mutti
1 can of tomato puree
Salt
Bunch of basil wrapped in twine
2-3 tablespoons of Sugar
Red wine
Mix all ingredients except basil - continue to taste until you like it. I personally like a little saltier sauce so what I put in compared to you may be different. Wine & salt to taste is your preference here, make it your own :) Once you have the taste down add the bunch of basil wrapped in the twine and then add in all the meatballs. Cook at medium heat for an hour to 1.5hrs so that the meatballs get nice and moist in the sauce.
